HaggettCon Fantasy Siege 2009 page 3

Early Game

Here you can see a portion of the Orc and Goblin army and just how crowded they were. Things started in typical orc fashion with one of the catapults misfiring and collapsing in a pile of splinters. The other catapults missed as well, leading to a torrent of curses from The Trooper. To top things off the lone Gobbo Shaman took a spear to the chest from the Dwarven boltthrower before casting a single spell.

You can also see the Goblin craftsmanship at work on the siege ladders, which appear suspiciously like wild west fences...

A poor Dwarf Crossbow falls victim to a gobbo arrow.

Relative positions after turn one.

The Dwarfs abandoned their other positions and rushed to reinforce the attacked wall.

The Orc Borz were bringing up the ladders. It took them a while to get there due to the congestion.

Perhaps the biggest threat the Dwarfs faced was the Spider Riders. These fearsome beasties could scale the wall to engage!

Relative positions after turn 2 or 3.

The Spider Riders went up the wall to confront the Dwarves. One of the Spider Riders ate a cauldron of hot oil and tumbled back down.

The Orc Boyz were setting their ladders to scale as well.

The initial combat at the wall went poorly for the Dwarves.

Suffering casualties, the Dwarves ran. This left the spiders temporarily in charge of the wall. The Dwarves would rally though.
