Years following the fall of the Templars, pilgrims journeyed to their shrine in the hills. The Imperial government largely ignored the shrine as a nuisance until 40 years ago. Rumors about the Templars working with humanoids in the area and organizing raids on nearby temples, abbeys, and shrines forced the government into action. A punitive force set off for the Templars shrine and again the Templars were destroyed. This time only the aged Zearot Averton escaped and disappeared into the surrounding wilderness.
