Gravitas Morte

Ruler of Purgatory, Gravitas Morte receives all souls and sends them to their final destination. Morte is decidedly anti-undead and abhors unnatural death. The god even allows resurrection of his followers who have thus opposed these forces in life, if the follower's soul so chooses.

Gravitas is arbiter of judgment on where a soul must finally reside. If no being has a claim on the soul it goes to his plane of Purgatory. The soul on Purgatory remains there, gradually fading as memories of the person fade. Occassionally, demons will raid Purgatory seeking fading souls and try to lure them into Hell to "live" on. Although it irks Gravitas, he allows it - as a soul's choice is important to the deity. The raids on Purgatory is another incentive for Morte to favor those who oppose Hell's minions of evil with resurrections.

While demons recruit souls through temptations of raw power at every turn, devils often present Gravitas Morte with convuluted contracts demanding the souls. This is one circumstance where the soul is not given a choice and is damned to Hell. Gravitas Morte also permits petitions from other gods for placement in other planar realms, such as Heaven, but ultimately, he usually allows the soul to choose.

Repose Domain

Deities: Gravitas Morte
Granted Power: You gain the R.I.P. smite power, the supernatural power to make a single melee attack with a +4 bonus on attack rolls and a bonus on damage rolls equal to your cleric level. You must declare your smite before making the attack. This ability is useable once per day.
Any creature killed by the R.I.P. smite power cannot be raised as undead.
